Criminal defense is an area of the law dealing with criminal charges brought by a Prosecuting Attorney representing the government against an individual, charging them with some sort of criminal activity. A criminal defense attorney is equipped to address all the issues presented with these charges, including protecting the individual's constitutional rights, conducting pre-trial discovery of evidence, negotiating a guilty plea if warranted, securing bond reductions, and litigating to ensure fair bench and jury trials. There are various issues incidental to said charges that are also part of the criminal defense arena, including but not limited to resolving driver's license issues, expungement of criminal record, reinstatement of driving privileges/specialized driving privileges, removal of violent/sex offender registry requirements, and representing juvenile delinquents involved in the criminal justice system.
